Craft Trade Sector: Organisational Structures and Innovative Approaches

  • The CoMun-GIZ program, in partnership with Medcities and the Center for Mediterranean Integration (CMI), organized a two days exchange on « Organisational structures of the Craft Trade Sector and Innovative Approaches » on September 10, 2015 in Tunis and September 11, 2015, in Sousse, Tunisia. 

     

    Part of the CMI-Multi Donors Trust Fund, this study visit was the last component of the Technical Project Assistance developed in partnership with the municipality of Chefchaouen. After the finalization of the diagnosis and road map on the craft sector in Chefchaouen, this exchange aimed to identify various organisational mechanism developed by the artisans in the Maghreb, and reflect on innovative approaches in terms of handicraft.

     

    This two days exchange gathered eight municipalities, four Moroccans[1] and four Tunisians as well as the craft delegation from Chefchaouen. The first day was hosted by the Association to Safeguard the Medina of Tunis and the second day by the municipality of Sousse. During the sessions, the participants exchanged their experiences on various projects that have been developed in the craft sector and participated in field visits to meet artisans involved in innovative initiatives in the medina of Tunis and Sousse.
